APACHE COAT FOR WOMEN.
ANOTHER MANNISH MODE—BRASS BUTTONS AND GOLD CHAIN—FROM PARIS. LONDON, April 20. A new mannish mode hails from Paris in the Apache style of tailormade launched by a leading dress house. It is a daring style, and, in the language of fashionable dressmaking, “takes some wearing,” that is to say, it looks its best when displayed by a woman with a Hair for smart dressing. Every detail is strictly tailored The short, cutaway blue serge coat with brass buttons reveals its Apache inspiration in every line, though the knife which the traditional Apache carries at the hip has as its substitute a gold chain worn towards the front of the short skirt. The white-frilled shirt worn under the little coat suggests a sweater, and the plainly-knitted blue and white scarf and characteristic peaked cap worn slightly to the side are other Apache dress conventions duly observed in the latest fashion for women. The original model was designed for yachting wear, but the Apache tailored style has already outgrown such initial limitations.
