COMMONWEALTH NOT SATISFIED WITH WORK OF NAURU COMMISSION
ROYAL COMMISSIC. I NOW TO BE APPOINTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. MELBOURNE, June 3. In the House of Mr Bruce announced that the Federal Government- was appointing a Royal Commission to inquire into the working of the British Phosphates Commission at Nauru. Questioned regarding the proposed transfer of the offices of the Commission from Australia to New Zealand, Mr Bruce said that no arrangements had yet been reached to retain the office in Australia. There were several questions in regard to the conduct of the business and the relations with the Commissioner which required very full investigation and for that purpose a Royal Commission had been ap pointed. Pending the investigation the Commonwealth had asked the New Zealand and the Imperial Governments not to take any further action regarding the removal of the office.
