Before the Australian cricketers left on the present tour the president of the Melbourne Cricket Club (Sir Leo. Oussen) said that Australia would look to its men standing “four square” to ail the best t.hrt England could produce. The touring team is composed of 1G men. This number is also connected in other ways with the tour, nr it is 48 years (three times 16) since the first team visited England, and the the firs' Test of this tour will be the 48th played in England.
