VIGILANT POLICE REAP HARVEST.

MANY CYCLISTS HAVE TO PAY FINES. The vigilance cf the police of f'hristchurch was shown in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when many offenders, charged with riding bicycles at night without lights, were dealt with. The majority of them did not appear, so that the fines were quickly rattled off by the Magistrate, Mr H. A. Young. Some brought excuses, but were generally met with the query: “ Why didn't you walk with your bicycle?” Others cheerfully admitted having broken the by-law.
