ADDRESS ON GIRL GUIDE WORK IS GIVEN.

Friends and supporters of the Canterbury Girl Guide movement gathered In the Navy League Hall last evening to hear an address on the work of the movement by Lady Marjorie Dalrynipl t, organising commissioner of the CJ'il Guides of New Zealand. Miss Bromley Cocks presided. She stated that in'the two years since their inception their numbers had been swelled, to 600 and they were still making great I Lady Marjorie Dalrymple stated that the aim of the movement was service. in all children there was the desire to serve, to be of some use, and to have a. hand in the making of tradition. The work of the movement was to foster this spirit. It was a work that all could do and it was also a work that would be welcomed because all who associated themselves with it would get a grq&t deal of enjoyment out of It. If the'Carl Guide movement could educate the desire to do good it would be laying a foundation stone upon which would he build up a great service in the counII During S the evening some pretty folk dancing was given by members of the local Guides. , ~ T , A motion picture, produced by Mr U. P. Kinsella, giving interesting views of the dailv routine during the life of the Girl Guide “World Camp, held at Foxlease in 3 924, was shown. At the conclusion of the evening a vote of thanks was passed to Lady Marjorie Dalrymple for her interesting address.
