ST BEDE’S COLLEGE PLAYS ANNUAL FOOTBALL
The Annual football matches between ' St Bede’s College Old and Present Boys took place at the college to-day. St Bede's opened with a sally into Old Boys' quarter, and After a short passing bout T. Furlong fell over the line. It. Driscoll's kick failed to cross the bar. From a parsing rush, ftt Bede's again got ejoae to the Old Boys’ line, and a penalty kick, taken by J. Hendren. was put over. Old Boys put up feonte good passing, but St Bede s turned the Old Boys' attack into a defensive movement, a rush taking place, the result of which being a try by Furlong. Hendren's kick did not get Across. Old Keys made a sally into ftt Bede’s quarters, and J. De.nnehy carried the bah over. U. Lattimore's attempt to convert was unsuccessful. At half-time the score WAS:—St Bede's 9, Old Boys 3. The Second half saw the Addition of two men to Old Boys* team. they having been short. Ht Bede's started some passing work and Furlong scored. Hendren did not convert. Another passing rush by ftt Bede's saw Furlong again score. T. Hawkins attempted to convert. but failed. Old Boys came to life with a passing rush and Lattimore Secured the ball. He made a fine run and scored between the posts. Payne’s kick was successful. There was no further score, and the game ended. .ST HKnR'H J 5 OLD HoYft X The Rev Father Dowling was referee. JUNIOR MATCH. In the Junior match. Boland t Old Roys) WAS the first to score, a little later J. John sen (St Bede's) equalised by picking up otuside the t Wenty-ftve enJ scoring. MalJey (Old Roys> scored in the corner, giving Old Boys a Dad at half-time. In the second half J. AJng*,- (Old Bovs ) pick*»d up from n scramble and scored. D. orosble (ftt Bede s) crossed the line at the corner, and Just before time K. Horner made a fast, run up the llhe and Scored. The final scores were:— OLI> BOY ft a HT BfODETK 9 Mr F.
