General Wu Pci-fu and Marshal Chang Tso-lin, after the capture of Pekin, allowed the Kuo Min-chun. or Red Army, to withdraw to the strong Xankow Pass, north-west of Pekin, practicaliv unmolested. Wu Pci-fu and Chang Tso-lin have since been busy concentrating troops at Pekin in order to control the future Government, hence the Kuo Min-chun. despite the loss of their leader. General Feng Vu-hsiang, have been able to reorganise armies and obtain large supplies of munitions from Russia, through Mongolia. Thus strengthened. the Reds have now launched a heavy attack on Shan-si, which is known as “ The Model Province ” in China. The Reds penetrated into Shan-si in six directions.
