DANGERS OF DANCING AT MIDDLE-AGE.

DOCTOR SAYS JAZZ IS INSANITY SET TO MUSIC

"Too many dances are bad for men in the forties, especially in the atmosphere of jazz bands. Jazz is simply heart disease and insanity set to music.” This opinion was expressed by Dr G. S. Thomson, medical officer of health of Deptford, in a lecture on "Keeping Fit Until Ninety” at Kensal Rise, London. Middle-age, he said, began at 40 years, when the tissues had lost part of their elasticity and the bones had hardened and were, more brittle. It was then that every endeavour should be made, to retain suppleness in. the tissues and above all to maintain the elasticity of the arteries. “Far too man}' people over 40 eat too much,” said Dr Thomson. As a diet for a healthv old age he recommended brown bread, plain biscuits, plain puddings. vegetables, some meat, fish, milk, flutter, and cheese, and plenty of fruit. Plenty of outdoor exercise was also necessary. . —.—
