MAYFIELD PLUNKET SOCIETY.

On Thursday afternoon the Mayfield branch of the Plunkct Society held a children’s fancy dress party. In former years the children’s fancy dress party was held on the same evening as the adults’, but owing to the hall being so overcrowded it was decided to hold the children’s party on a separate afternoon this year, and this proved a very wise action. Although the weather was not at all favourable there was a very large attendance of children and their parents, and the hall presented a very gay appearance. The judges of the fancy dresses were Mrs A. N. Grigg, president of the Ashburton Centre, Mrs T. Connor and Sister E. A. Gates. The past president of the Ashburton Centre, Mrs W. A. Laing, was also present. During the afternoon Mr H. C. Barton thanked all those who had helped to make the function such a success, especially the judges and musicians.
