PANTOMIME IS COMING.

THE “ NEW ALADDIN ” OPENS NEXT SATURDAY.

With its great variety of specialities and features, the pantomime “The New Aladdin” should delight young aqd old. It is one of the stories which looses nothing by the passage of time. In the latest presentation of the Williamson management, every effort has been made to stage a pantomime in full keeping with the traditions of this class of entertainment. The dame, to whom all pantomime lovers look for much of the fun of the piece, is Widow Twankey, played by Mr Bruce Green. Many humorous mo-

ments are provided by the troubles c Aladdin and his adopted brother, a

youth named Wishee (Mr Gus Bluett). Miss Floie Allan plays the part*of Aladdin, and Miss Roma Phillips makes a dainty princess.

“The New Aladdin” was first produced at the London. Palladium, where it had a phenomenally successful run, which was repeated at Melbourne and Adelaide. From there it has been transported to New Zealand in its entirety, and opens its Christchurch season at the Theatre Royal next Saturday. The dressing and scenery are superb, and the music right through exquisite, including many of the .latest hits, which will be whistled and sung all over New Zealand soon. Included amongst these are “Our Avenue,” “Seminola,” “I’m afraid to Love,” “You Forgot to Remember,” and “Ukelele Lady.” The marvellous stage effects are due to the wonderful stage management of Mr J. C. Whitfield. The box plans for the season open at the Bristol Piano Company on Thursday morning.
