Fashions and Furbelows
NOTES BY SPECIAL CONTRIBUTORS.
in very deep and mitten-like cuffs. A becoming mode for hands which are not very beautiful. Black onj'x is as much liked as ever; if it can be allied with pearls or diamonds, so much the better, but failing these, crystal will serve. The most packable dance frock? It it is certainly a lacy frock; lace gowns suffer less than any others from even amateur packing. Fur is bestowed very capriciously on long Coats,, but there is method in such caprice. Long study is needed before shaggy fur can be profitably used as panels or insets for a hem, especially for a short figure. To gain the muchliked scarf effect, a liighish collar of fur strays slantwise from the neck and diminishes slightly in width as it does so. It is also allowed to hang loose, so that the scarf illusion is preserved. The full baggy bishop sleeves have their counterpoint in the furry cuffs of the latest coat models. Flat, close, supple fur is chosen, and there is often a strap of the cloth on the sleeves above the cuffs. Such a style demands balance, so there is a big turn-over collar of fur to correspond, and quite often cuffs of the same.
