LEAGUE APPOINTMENT STRONGLY CRITICISED.

COUNCIL REFUSES TO TAKE NOTICE OF MOTION.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 29. The appointment of Mr E. H. Mair, of Toowoomba, Queensland, as manager of the New Zealand League team to tour England was severely criticised by Mr Langstone at the meeting of the Auckland League. He suggested that the matter be rc ned. Mr Hammill, chairman, said that there was little chance of this as the council point-blank had refused to receive notice of motion. “ We have tried. We take no objection to Mr Mair. It is merely the method of his appointment that we do not agree with,” he said.
