DON’T BE AN ANNOYING VISITOR.

And if you do drop in at any old time be tactful and know when it is time to go. Probably no woman, however good a hostess she may be, is always glad to see any visitors. There are so many women who always manage to pick the wrong time for visiting. When you are going to see a friend, don’t go at a meal-time. You may have been out shopping, or had a very early lunch, but you must remember that other people probably keep regular hours and will therefore be sitting down to a meal about one o’clock. And if you do go at their meal-time, don’t sit and look at them eating all the time, nor talk continuously to them. If you happen to arrive just as your friend is going out, be sensible and don’t go in the house. You might accompany her a little way, but don’t keep her waiting at the place of separation. Again, if 3 r ou visit unexpectedly, and find your friend already entertaining someone else, be tactful and leave soon. Nothing is more annoying than to have an intimate talk, probably long looked forward to, interrupted by an occasional visitor. You may find your friend cutting out or making up a dress. Don’t push your assistance upon her, and don’t make too many suggestions. If you know there is a dog in the house, don’t take yours. Perhaps at some time or another you have met a friend the day after a visit, and have noticed a little decrease in her effusiveness. Don’t wonder about it. Just think, and see if you have committed one of these faults; if so, don’t do it again. You won’t lose so many friends.
