DOMINION RECEIVES GOOD ADVERTISEMENT.
AMERICA HEARS from Consul-General. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, April 26. New Zealand has received much voluntary ptjblicity by ,a holiday in the United States of the American ConsulGeneral for the Dominion, Mr \V. L. Lowrie, who, accompanied by Mrs Lowrie, returned by the Niagara this inoniing. “I made some speeches by request in many of the large cities of America,” said Mr Lowrie, “and I found the people keenly interested. T told them of the general conditions, of j'our up-to-date laws, and. of course, of your fishing and shooting. When I told them about the 201 b trout you get here they didn’t quite believe me." Mr Lowrie said New' Zealanders would be surprised at, the interest that American people had in New Zealand and he was sure that there was every possibility of more and more tourists coming here. The Dominion was being given a great deal of publicity, and in this respect he mentioned the articles of Dr Van Dyke, who toured the Dominion a short time ago. In his w’ritings the doctor spoke very highly of this country’.
Of the speeches made by the ConsulGeneral, four were given to rotorarv clubs, and Mr Lowrie mentioned the good work being done in his country by those organisations. “I found things very prosperous in America.”' concluded Mr Lowrie, who added, in reply to a question, that, there seemed to be a general increase in both exports and imports between our country and his.
