To-day was observed throughout Germany as a day of mourning for the •war dead. President Hindenburg and the Government issued a joint manifesto declaring that the German people cannot be destroyed provided they remain united and loyal. All flags were at half mast and theatres and places of amusement closed. The Socialists and Democrats simultaneously observed the anniversary of the death ©t Herr Ebert.
