HAHN AND ROSE WILL RUN TO-NIGHT, HAIL, RAIN, OR FINE.

Rain on Saturday caused the postponement of the sports meeting at English Park, where the American athletes Scholz and Hahn were to have competed. It was definitely announced this morning that the sports will be held to-night, wet or fine. What might be described as the biggest event in athletics that has taken place on any track in New Zealand will be witnessed when Rose, the Australasian distance champion, and Hahnl the American middle distance runner, will meet to try conclusions over a mile. The two champions have met previously in New Zealand on two occasions, and each has notched a decisive win. Hahn defeated Rose at Masterton in 4min 18 3-ssec. and Rose scored a victory over Hahn at Wellington in 4min 26sec. On a later date Rose was clocked over a mile by three official watches in 4min 18sec. Both men are at present in the pink of condition and to-night's race should prove the greatest thrill seen on a New Zealand race track. During the week-end the Americans and the New Zealandef were the guests of the Canterbury Athletic Centre at a picnic at Kairaki. Beach, _ when the Americans showed themselves adept at cricket. Rose went over a smart two miles on Saturday, while Ilahn indulged in short -work, reeling off a very fast quartermile. Scholz, the sprint champion, has been resting. All three are confident regarding to-night's events and are looking forward to the “ gun.”

TO BE AT MASTERTON ON THURSDAY EVENING Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 1. The American athletes will re-appear at Masterton on Thursday evening instead of Wednesday.
