MUCH IMPRESSED WITH EXHIBITION.
SIR FRANK HEATH EXPRESSES AMAZEMENT. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 2G. The brass bands’ contest has drawn large attendances to the Exhibition this week, in spite of the absence of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who will resume their afternoon and evening concerts on Monday. Yesterday’s tally was 18,665, bringing the grand attendance up to 1,769,471.
Sir Frank Heath, secretary of the British Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, has been greatly impressed by the magnitude and wonderful scope of the Exhibition. In a hurried interview with a reporter he said: “I am amazed—that is about all I can say about it. Really it has brought home to me, and especially your New Zealand industries court, the wonderful industrial advance made by New Zealand in a way you cannot get even by travelling round the country. It is almost miraculous to think that all this has been done in less than three generations. The time spent here is worth more than weeks of travelling. I should like to put in a whole week at the Exhibition. I have been very, very much impressed."
