NEW BISHOP TO ARRIVE IN MARCH.

The Bishop-elect of Christchurch, Dr Campbell West-Watson, will arrive in Christchurch next month. A programme has been drawn up for his installation to office and for his reception.

It is expected that the Bishop-elect and Mrs West-Watson will arrive in Wellington by the Rotorua on Saturday, March 20. The Bishop-elect will be met in Wellington by the Dean of Christchurch and Bishop’s Commissary the Very Rev C. W. Carrington; the Diocesan Registrar, Rev Canon J. de B. Galwey; and the Chancellor. Mr If. D. Andrews. The Bishop-elect and Mrs West-Watson will leave Wellington on the same evening for Christchurch. On Wednesday, March at 8 p.m., there will be the enthronement ceremony in the Cathedral. Admission will be by tickets only, which will be obtainable from the parish clergy. At the ceremony, the collection will be for the foreign missions of the Church.. The programme for March 25 begins with Holy Communion at 7.30 in the Cathedral. At 8.30 a.m. there will be breakfast at the Carlton for members of the Synod, the Cathedral Chapter, y Church Property Trustees, and others, and at 10.30 a.m. the Bisbop l will meet the ' clergy at the Church House. The wives of the clefgy will be invited to meet Mrs West-Watson at the Deanery at 11 a.m. There will be a public reception at 8 p.m., in the King Edward Barracks. Tickets will be issued at 0d each for the reception, and will be obtainable from the parish clergy or from' the verger at the Cathedral. It is expected that the Bishop wijl preach on Easter mornipg at the Cathedral, and in the evening at Rangiora. On the first Sunday after Easter he is likely to preach at Timaru. The Bishop intends to take the 4.10 p.m. children’s services at the Cathedral in Holy Week.
