MAIREHAU CLUB HOLDS NIGHT MEETING.
M. FITZGERALD BEATS J. BEARMAN CYCLING. The Mairehau Sports Club held Its evening meeting, postponed from the previous night, at the English Park Stadium last night. The atmosphere was decidedly chilly and there was only a moderate attendance. The chief attraction was the match race between MFitzgerald (Australia) and J. Bearman (New Zealand). Fitzgerald won the first two distances comfortably, and with them the match. It was obvious he knew too much for Bearman, who is as yet inexperienced in match racing. Fitzgerald was in good form as later in the evening he won the mile open handicap. The scratch race was won easily by P. O’Shea, who appears to have struck his best form again.
