CHOLMONDELEY CHILDREN’S HOME.
The annual meeting of subscribers to the Cholmondeley Memorial Children's Home was presided over by Mrs C. Carrington. The annual report stated that the past year had been an eventful one. On March 8 the new home at Governor's Bay was opened by Sir Heaton Rhodes. There had been a record number of children in the home, most of their mothers having been laid aside by illness. Committee meetings had been held each month, and two general meetings have been held. At the first, called specially for the purpose of having a larger representative committee, Mrs C. Chilton, Mrs W. Chrystall and Mrs J. A. Flesher were elected. The second meeting was called to amend the rules of the society, empowering the committee to sell their property at New Brighton. As this meeting was not called till late in the year, the completion of the sale of the property was delayed till after the new year. The report expressed thanks to all who had assisted the home during the year. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £14,180 16s 2d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The president expressed the hope that during the ensuing year a shed would be erected for swings and that a gardener would be engaged. Miss Morton Ollivier, who was for many years hon. secretary, was made a life member. A letter of apology was received from Mr H. H. Cholmondeley, regretting his absence. His letter stated : “ In looking back on the past year t think avc have reason to congratulate ourselves on what has been doneHaving had a daily knowledge of the working of the home I would like to pay a tribute to the work done by the staff, for their kindness to the children and the way in which, the Home has been kept, and in this respect (we have been most fortunate.”
