ROTS' ASSOCIATION". Matches were continued last Saturday In all grades of the Canetrburv Boys’ Cricket Association's competition, several rather important games taking place. As was the case the previous week, a large number of matches went bv default. and the executive have now decided to eliminate Y.M.C.A. from the sixth and seventh grades. EXECUTIVE MEETING. East Monday an executive meeting was held at the Technical College, the following being present:—Mr C. S. Johnston (chairman'. Rev Father Buckley, Rev Brother Oswyn. Messrs C. T. Hix. E. B. J. Murray. R. M. Bruce, C. J. i Juldstene and <J. S. A. Biitcliff (honIt was decided to suggest to the Malvern Association that the annual match against the ''under sixteen” representatives be played in Christchurch on Easter Saturday. The honorary secretary briefly reported concerning the visit of the two Canterbury teams to Otago during January, and made special reference to- the good behaviour of the boys whilst in Itunedin. He was thanked for his report. and a vote of thanks was passed to the Otago Boys' Cricket Association for the way in which they had entertained the Canterbury teams. On the mention of Mr C. T.Rix, seconded by Mr _F. B. J. Murray, it was decided to close the competition after the next two rounds had been played, and that a knock-out, which should be entirely separate from the season's competition, should he arranged between the leading eight teams in each On the motion of Mr C. T. Rix, seconded by Mr R. M. Bruce, it was decided that the season in future should commence in February, and conclude in December with an adjournment over the j winter months. It was pointed out that from October, 1026. to December, 1926, would have to- constitute a seperate half-season. Tt was also decided that ages should be taken from February 1. when the age limits shall be:— Fifth grade, under sixteen years four months. sixth grade, under fifteen years four months: seventh grade, under fourteen years four months. A number of notices of motion being given, it was decided that a special general meeting should be called for Monday, March 15, at p.m.

GEN'ERAE NOTES. Although no very high scores were recorded last Saturday, some of the performances with the bat were quite creditable. B. Welch, of the Technical firth grade A team, secured the highest individual total with a score of 68 not our. During the adjournment, Welch acted as captain of the “under sixteen” representatives, and. although not in the first flight amongst the batsmen, he made one or two very useful scores for the representatives. His good effort last Saturday was the deciding factor in the game between Technical A and St Bede’s. G. X. Blackaby, of the Technical sixth grade B team, is second on the list with a total of 54. Previous to the adjournment, Blackaby played for the Marist Brothers sixth grade team, for whom he registered several good scores. F. Porteous (West Christchurch) also secured a half-century in a friendly match against Cathedral Grammar. S. V. Ellis, of the Boys' High School fifth -grade A team, heads the bowling honours with the fine performance of sixteen wickets for 32 runs. Ellis is also an “under sixteen” representative, and during the vacation bowled well in the various games. W. Fitzsimmons, who is second on the list with six wickets for 14 runs, plays for the Technical College sixth grade A team, whilst A. Rimmer, seven for 20, is a member of the Linwood seventh grade team. Last Saturday the tenth round of games was played in the fifth (under sixteen) grade, the only important match being that between St Bede’s and Technical A. In the previous round Technical A had secured a two-point win from St Bede’s, and a close game was expected when the two teams met for a second time last Saturday. Neither team showed much form with the bat. but a good stand by B. Welch and A. Park for Technical A gained them a win by an innings and <me. run. As will be seen in the following table, 'Technical A are now in the lead, belnf two points ahead of School A, whilst St Bede's are in the I ;,third place. Technical A are to plays School A next Saturday, and if successful they will he certain of winning the grade. If Technical A should lose, a considerable ameunt will hang upon the result of the game between School A and St Bede’s, which lias yet to he played.

St Bede's did not show much form with the bat against Technical A. their innings closing for 68 runs. Anisy hatted nicely for 34, whilst Burke and Larsen each secured doubles with 11. A. Murray, five for 21, R. Burgess, four for 15, and A. Park, one for 12, took the wickets. Technical A opened badly, seven wickets falling for fifty runs, but then A. Park and B. Welch became associated, and carried the total to 126, when the innings was declared without further loss. Welch batted very nicely for 6S not cut. whilst D. X. Stokes was next on the list with 23. Park, although he did not secure double figures, played a valuable innings. “stone-walling” whilst Welch did the scoring. F. O'Brien was in good form with the hall, taking six wickets for 22 runs, whilst F. JTawken accounted for the remaining, wicket, at a co-st of 40 runs. Requiring 5S runs to avoid an innings defeat, St Bede’s, iti their second session, 'Were all out for 57. Anisy, with 22. was again top scorer, whilst Hawjcen also secured double figures with 15. A. Murray, five for IG, R. Burgess, two for 6, A. Park, two for 9, and D. J. Quaid, cne for 12. took wickets for Technical A, who gained a three-point West Christchurch won by default from Y.M.C.A. School A batted first in their game against St Andrew’s, declaring with eight wickets down for 116 runs. E. Pearce batted soundly for a good 38, whilst H. Henderson was next on the list with 26, and Dyer (11), S. Ellis (10) and L. Pc-lson (10) also gained double figures. K. Grimmer, who took five wickets for 53 runs, was?-the most successful bowler for St Andrew's, whilst F. Scott, two for 40, and Coop, one fcT IS.- also bowled well. St Andrew’s failed with the hat, their first innings totalling only 38, of which K. Macartney contributed a cautious 11. S. V.. Ellis bawled we 11,., taking ni-us wicket.<*for 12 runs, whilst 11. Last week, the defeat of St Bede’s in the sixth (under fifteen) grade has definitely spoilt their chances of winning the grade hut, as Technical A and Riccarton both secured three-point wins, there has been no change in the placings, of the two leading teams. Last Saturday, although no very important games were played in the seventh (under fourteen) grade, some or the results had a considerable bearing, upon the competition. The defeat of St Bede's by lln wood lias cleared the air to some degree, and now the issue rests between School A and V est chiistchurcli. As the former team secured a two-point win against Technical, whilst West Christchurch gained a three-pointer, these two teams are again level on points. V est Christchurch, however, have their bye this week, whilst School A play St Andrew’s, whom they should defeat. School A have yet to play West Christchurch, and the result of the competition practically depends upon this game. The match between School A and Technical lost Saturday proved an interesting struggle. School A were first at the wickets, scoring 95. Purdue -4, Peake 12, and Purchase 11 not out. gamed double figures, whilst Coombes, seven for 27, bowled very well for Technical. R. Goldstone. two for 36, and Small, one for 4, also took wickets. Technical showed fair form with the bat, notching 63 runs. Taylor 19 and Corliss 17 were the top scorers, whilst Harrison, three for 3. England, three for 11, Frances, two for 11, Purdue, one for 21, and Purchase, one for 15, took wickets. When stumps were drawn, School A had, lost two wickets for 21 runs, and secured a two-pointer. Puddle, one for 2, and Coombes, one for 11, took the wickets for Technical. The match between Y.M.C.A. A and School B was not played, both teams defaulting. West Christchurch won by default from Cathedral Grammar. St Beds’s failed to show form in their first innings against Linwood, and were dismissed for 38. Preston 13, was top scorer, whilst A. Rifnmer. five for 8, and 8. Hobson, five for 21. shared the wickets. Llnwood's innings realised 77, of which Brown contributed a nice 41, whilst Falgar 12. and Rimmer 11. were next on the list: J. Mannix, five for 29, bowled best for fat Bede’s, whilst D. O’Brien took three wickets for 32 runs. fat Bede's showed improved form with their second knock, and at time had lost eight wickets lor 64 runs. D. O'Brien 19, J. Mannix 14, and Loughmrn 12 gained doubles, whilst T. Hobson. four for 23. and A. Rimmer, two for 12. bowled best for Linwood, who obtained fat Andrew's won by default from Y.M.C.A. B. Marist Brothers had the bye. The following is the draw for the next round: —Y.M.C.A. A v. St Bede's. St Bede’s win by default; Cathedral Grammar v. Technical, Ensor’s Road, No. 4; School A v. Pierce 10). A. Barnett, three for 31. and C. Restreaux, three for 39, took wickets for Grammar, who replied with 75 (C. Restreaux 24. A. Barnett 20 and N. Edmonds 19). F. Porteous, four for 26; E. Angus. three for 28; R. M’Cleary, one for 4. and D. Stout, one for 10, took wickets for West Christchurch, who declared with one wicket down for 22 (M’Cleary 10 and Pierce 10 not out). C.
