While Spencer Stratton, a New Zealand motor-cyclist, was participating ht a heat in a two miles scratch race on the Newcastle Speedway his machine skidded and Stratton was dashed against a fence. He was sent to hospital suffering from severe abrasions, both to his arms and face. Earlier in the evening Stratton won a special match race against C. DatSon, establishing a new track record for three miles, covering the distance in 2min 58 3-ssec. '
