AN UNFORTUNATE MAN IN COURT.

GUILTY OF DRUNKENNESS AND TRESPASS.

George Gardiner, a middle-aged man, hobbled into the dock at the Magistrate's Court this morning on a pair of crutches and pleaded guilty to charges of having been found drunk and of having trespassed on the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s course at Addington on^aturday. Messrs P. L. Davies Md 11. F. Herbert, J.P.’s. were on the Bench. Chief-Detective Gibson said accused was an unfortunate man, having only

one arm and one leg. Nevertheless he was a man prohibited from going on to racecourses.

In reply to the Justices, accused said he would not have gone on to the racecourse if he had not had any drink. He had kept clear of racecourses lor years. Accused was fined 10s and costs on the first charge and 40s and costs on second charge. .
