Fly Mask, one of the favourites for the Grand National Steeplechase, was killed in a race at Ilavdock Park, in which he fell at the last jump and broke his neck. His jockey, Eric Foster, was uninjured. Fly Mask, who was fourteen years old, carried 10st 101 b into second place in the Grand National Steeplechase two years ago. He did not start in the race a year ago. but he had been one of the popular picks for this year’s race for some time past. The course at which he fell was a very easy one for a horse who had proved himself a great jumper over the stiff Liverpool country.
