FIRE BRIGADE CALLED TO A HOT BATH.

LONDON, January 15. Seeing what -were apparently volumes of smoke coming from a window above the gateway of University College, Oxford, at a late hour last night, pedestrians raised an alarm, and the Oxford Fire Brigade rushed to University College. The great gate of the college was badly battered. Later it was ascertained that there had been no fire, but that large quantities of steam had been escaping from a safety-valve in the bathroom' and had been mistaken lor smoke.
