Tn view of the visit of the American ; athletes, Scholz and Hahn, more than the usual amount of interest was taken in the Wellington provincial championships. There was an attendance of 7000 at the meeting. Rose, the champion long-distance runner, and Hahn, were expected to provide good races. The Wairarapa man’s form was closely watched. lie won the mile in 4min 40 3-ssec, and the three miles in lomin 21 4-nsec. Wairarapa won the M’Viely Shield with 72 points.
