WHEN YOU CLEAN YOUR TEETH

Always remember when cleansing the teeth to pay as much attention to the molars as to the front teeth, and don’t forget that it is even more necessary to cleanse the backs of the teeth than the fronts. For it is upon the backs and sides of the teeth that tartar appears. The choice of a tooth brush is also of tremendous importance in the canr' of the teeth. Decide on a brush that is neither too soft nor too hard and let it be a fairly small one which can be passed well back into the mouth. Each time the brush is used for cleansing the teeth rinse it thoroughly in fresh water (not what has been cmploj’ed for cleansing the teeth) to remove all traces of the tooth paste or powder which has been used. “Spongy" gums are fatal to the health of the teeth, and an astringent wash should be used for rinsing the mouth after the usual cleaning and morning. Half a drachm of tincture of myrrh added to an ounce of water will be found quite satisfactory for the purpose. A reliable tooth paste should be used night and morning for cleansing the teeth and to prevent discoloration once a month (not oftener) a * few drops of peroxide of hydrogen (10 vol.) may be brushed lightly over them.
