Opua leaves Wellington to-day for Westport and Greymouth via Nelson. Holmdale loads at Dunedin to-day, and is expected to leave there to-night for Oaniaru, Timaru and Lyttelton. The vessel is due to load here on Wednesday for Wellington and Wanganui. John, from Wanganui, is due here on Tuesday to load for Wellington and Wanganui. Alexander, with a load of sheep, Is expected here to-day. On discharging, she loads for Nelson, Westport and Greymouth. Calm Is due here from the north tomorrow to load on Monday for Bluff, Dunedin and Timaru. Cygnet arrived back from Wellington via. Kaikoura yesterday afternoon. She sails on Tuesday for Kaikoura and Wellington. Kamo sailed yesterday afternoon for Dunedin. She returns here on Thursday to load for Napier and Gisborne. Waihemo is expected to sail from Lyttelton on Tuesday for Vancouver. Moeraki was timed to leave Bluff yesterday for Melbourne. Poolta is now expected to arrive here on Tuesday from Portland via New Plymouth and Wellington. She has cement for discharge here. Tees was an early arrival from the Chathams yesterday morning. Fhe discharged a consignment of sheep and left on the return trip last evening. The vessel will load at the Chathams for Timaru. Norfolk was an arrival at Lyttelton yesterday morning to unload West of England cargo. She leaves for Dunedin on Tuesday. West Henshaw is due here from Auckland to-morrow to dischaa f"« cargo from San Francisco. She is expected to sail for Dunedin on Friday next. The Union Steam Ship Company has received the following message from the. Canadian Pacific Railway headquarters at Montreal:—“No doubt you saw recently in the Press that a portion of the Chateau Frontenac, the, Canadian Paclf» Railway’s famous hotel on Dufferln Terrace, Quebec, was damaged by fire. It can now be stated that the portion of the building destroyed will be entirely rebuilt and furnished by June 1 next, and that at present the hotel Is in full operation, with ample accommodation for the public In 660 guest rooms.” THE SURREY. The Surrey should be here about February 4 from Auckland to put out part of her English cargo. She proceeds to Tlmaru, thence Wellington, to finish discharge. When proceeding down the River Thames at the outset of her voyage the Surrey collided with the hopper barge J. H. Hunter, and sustained damage to her stem. She was towed back to London and dry-docked for repairs, sailing again for New Zealand on December 12. A hard south-east gale, with exceptionally high seas, was encountered on December 17, the vessel being lioveto for nine hours. Although the blow proved of exceptional severity, the Surrey escaped damage and resumed her voyage when the conditions moderated. Favourable weather was then experienced, and the steamer arrived at Curacao on December 28. After replenishing her oil-bunkers she resumed her voyage, to arrive at Colon three days later. Transit through the canal was obtained the following day. and the steamer continued her voyage across the Pacific. Fine weather prevailed almost to Auckland, the steamer averaging 13.6 knots.
