THE SUMNER STORM.
To the Editor. Sir,—Why all this bother about bathing shelters? I am in sympathy with the Mayor and councillors who refuse to consider this alleged need. I say, let those who want shelters provide their own. For the modest sum of £2OO (upwards according to taste) one can buy a motor-car (many makes
to choose from—l hold no brief for any particular kind) and with a little ingenuity (sheets and safety-pins, etc) it is possible to make a comfortable double shelter which will accommodate the family and a few friends (according to the size of car). Parking places are provided. I say bathing shelters are not required while people may so easily provide their own. Why disfigure the beach? A poor person may even buy a second-hand for, say, £2O, which would suit the purpose and has the advantage of being transfer-? able (save for tyre or engine trouble) to any other resort in the South Island, thus, giving greater variety for enthusiastic surfers.—l am, etc., SUPPORT TIIE MAYOR.
