BUSH FIRES RAGE IN N.S.W.
GREAT DAMAGE DONE, MUCH MORE LIKELY. ? Vf , By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and K.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, January 30. Bush fires in the Cotter River district are the worst for twenty years. Fears are entertained for the safety of the observatory and pine plantations at Mount Stromlo. In the Jingellic district, near Albury, a fire is raging fiercely along a fifteenmile front. In the Bathurst district sixty square miles of grass and fencing were destroyed. Several buildings and homesteads had close calls. The fire is now practically under control. Little loss of stock so far has been reported.
