A cyclone struck coastal districts in the vicinity of Broome and caused considerable damage. The schooner Mena was blown ashore in Beagle Bay. Fifty-one people aboard managed to reach the shore safely after an hazardous swim of 500 yards. All the roads are blocked by fallen trees. Many windmills have been overturned. The Beagle Bay Mission Station suffered severely, but so far as is known nobdy was injured.
