UNDER THE MARBLE ARCH.
! MOTORIST WHO DID NOT I . KNOW GETS SHOCK. fSpecial to the “Star.") LONDON, December 13. A perky little motor-car was driven right through the Marble Arch, Hyde Park, on Saturday afternoon, in clear weather. Not a very astonishing piece of news to those who don’t know. But the many Londoners who saw it happen stood aghast. Indeed, they appeared to have been almost petrified. Traffic policemen, recovering their senses, blinked; perhaps they pinched themselves. The constable into whom the car nearl}' ran pulled himself together, and with great presence of mind raised a forbidding hand in a way that spelt “Never!” Did he fumble for his notebook? Not for an instant. All that mattered was that the Exclusive Way must remain exclusive. The . driver of the car blinked. TTis wife blinked. Their Sealyham looked perplexed. “Back! ' said the official hand. Still puzzled, but not. until a full minute had passed, the driver backed through ■ the. arch and went by the road lie | must take. Perhaps now he knows that the I King and Queen and only a very few others have the privilege of passing the Marble Arch gates.
