Kathleen Robinson, a ten-year-old Swindon girl, who is going to New Zealand, unaccompanied, to join her parents, will long remember the exciting start of her journey. She and her guardian missed the train from London and found that the next reached Southampton five minutes after the Athenic was due to sail. Railway officials telephoned to the ship, and her departure was delayed until the girl was aboard.
