U.S.A. PERSEVERES WITH DIRIGIBLES.

THREE NEW CRAFT FOR NAVY DEPARTMENT.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Reuter's Telegrams. (Received January 30, 3.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, January 29.

Naval plans for an expenditure of fourteen million dollars, over a fiveyear period for lighter-than-air craft development were described before the House Naval Committee on Friday by Rear-Admiral William MofFet, the naval air chief. The money, he said, would be used for two dirigibles of six million cubic feet capacity, costing four million dollars each, a training dirigible at a cost of a million and a half dollars, and the establishment of an air base on the Pacific Coast to cost four and a half million dollars. Admiral Moffet also proposed to expend 1,650,000 dollars annually for the maintenance of existing lighter-than-air facilities.
