DRIVER ORDERED TO PAY COMPENSATION.
COLLISION RESULT OF CARELESS DRIVING. As the result of a collision between motor-cars in Stanmorc Road on November 27, Leonard M’Kinnon, a young man, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day before Mr 11. A. Young, 5.M.,-with reckless driving. The defendant, represented by Mr Johnston, pleaded not guilty but after the police evidence had been heard he altered his plea to guilty. Charles Stevens said he was driving a car along River Road to-wards Stanmore Road. A collision tookk place on the bridge between the witness s car and the car driven bv M’Kionon, who was travelling at a dangerous speed. The witness’s father was injured and two little girls who were passengers in the car were also injured. Police witnesses estimated the defendant’s speed from 30.t0 40 miles an hour. M’Kinnon -was fined £lO OaOnd his license was endorsed. He was ordered to pay £l4 15s 6d compensation to Marjorie Hill, one of the girl passengers, £5 4s 6d compensation to Henrv Francis Stevens, and £4 4s costs, a total of £34.
