ALLOWANCES UNDER WILL INCREASED.
FAMILY MAKES CLAIM IN SUPREME COURT.
Mr Justice Adams to-day heard an application for further provision for Mrs Margaret Graham Ward, of Malcolm Avenue, Fisherton, out of the estate of her husband, John Ward, formerly of Runanga, West Coast, but late of Christchurch, retired stationer, who died on March 21, 1923. Mrs Ward appeared as plaintiff in the case. The defendants were the Public Trustee, executor under the will, Rose Margaret Cowman, wife of Charles H. Cowman, of Nelson, Albert P. Ward, of Runanga, Muriel Jessie Ward, of Christchurch, John Ward Cowman, infant son of Rose M. Cowman, and the Grey River Hospital Board. An order was made that the widow’s annuity should be increased by £1 a week, that Mrs Cowman's allowance should be increased by the same sum, and that Miss Muriel Ward's allowance of 30s a week should be for life instead of only until marriage. The widow’s increase will date from the testator’s death, the other increases from the date of the summons, November 12. Costs of Mrs Ward and of the Public Trustee will be taxed. Costs £lO 10s and disbursements vere allowed in respect to each of the other parties represented. Mr Thomas appeared for Mrs Ward, Mr Cuthbert for the Public Trustee. Mr Burns for the guardian ad litem of the infant John W. Cowman, and Mr Lockwood for Rose M. Cowman, A. P. Ward and Muriel Jessie Ward. The Grey River Hospital Board is the residuary beneficiary under the will. The increases will come out of the bequest to it. Mr Ward made that bequest on condition chat it was used to help, pneumonic cases.
