The annual report of the PostmasterGeneral’s Department tabled in the House of Representatives showed that the net loss for the year ended June 30, 1925, was £242,322. The earnings of all branches totalled £10,074,854, an increase of £350,053 over

the previous year's. The working expenses, excluding interest charges, totalled £9,230,629, an increase of £781,853. The previous 3-ear’s operations showed a profit of £364,352. The principal factors contributing to the changed financial aspect compared with the previous 3*ear were reductions in postage rate of £300,000; application of radial charges for telephone calls, £82,000; reduced cable rates, £17,500; mail steamer loss, £47,000: various Arbitration Court awards, £283,000.
