BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting: of the North Beach and Waimairl Burgesses’ Association was held in the Life Saving Club's pavilion on Monday evening, when Mr E. A. M. Leaver presided over a fair attendance. A draft report of the work of the association for the year was submitted and approved. A copy is to be sent to each member prior to the annual meeting. which will be held in the Peace Memorial Hall on March 8. The following i-esolutions were submitted to the meeting and carried:— •• This association urges upon the New Brighton Borough Council the urgent need of a sea wall from Bowhlll Road to Osborne Terrace, and notes with pleasure that the Surf Club and Gala Society are moving in the matter.” “ That this association thanks Mr Bussell, of the Inter-City ’Bus Company, for complying with its request to run a ’bus service via Wainoni Road and heartily congratulates the company on the success of the venture.” ” That this association draws the attention of the Heathcote County Council to the fact that owing to the unexpected patronage of the ’bus running to andL from North Beach via Wainoni Road, the small ’bus has been found inadequate and as a result the residents along Wainoni Road are subjected to much discomfort owing to all seats being taken up before it reaches that portion of the route. Under these circumstances we would respectfully ask that the Inter-City Cbmpany be allowed to run the larger ’bus, and so provide the necessary accommodation.”
