HANNA’S DIGGERS.
THEATRE ROYAL TO-NIGHT. The return to Christchurch of Pat Hanna’s Vice-Regal Diggers is announced. They are the company wfto created a stir in. the theatrical world by playing for 488 consecutive nights in the Cremorne Theatre, Brisbane, which seats 2400 people. This record has never been approached by any other company. They return for one night only in a new, complete change of programme. They were specially engaged and brought from Australia to play a season in the Grand Festival Hall at the Dunedin Exhibition, and the directors of, the Exhibition have arranged for a return season in March. This brilliant coterie of performers includes such well-known names as G. P. Hanna, Joe Valli, Bert Gilbert, Stan Lawson, Brian Lawrance, Jim Foran, Jock Thomson, Chris Kilner, Frank M'Donald, Roy Brinsden, Wallace Lloyd, Iza Crosslev, ‘Jessie Hanna, Vera Carew, Rosette Powell. Thelma Pittard, Wynne Thomson, Kathleen Lawrance, Olive Baker, Gwen Lewis, Myra Bennett, Vera Rix, with the Diggers’ superb ballet and a full concert orchestra. Of this company, with| their merry quips, topicalities, songs, sayings, male quartettes, sketches, melody moments, domestic episodes, and interludes grave and gay, the Sydney “Bulletin” says: “The public are hungering for worthily made Australian goods, and in Hanna’s Diggers we have a show of which we can safely say ‘They have the gopds.’ ” The box plans are now open at the Bristol. Prices are ss, 4s, 3s, and 2s.
