Mr W. .T. Smyth, Christchurch manager of J. Ilott, Ltd., who will leave this week to take up an important executive position with the head office of the concern in Wellington, was recently met by the members of the local branch and presented with an engraved tobacco pouch and a signed water-col-our sketch of himself. In returning thanks Mr Smyth expressed sincere regret at leaving the Christchurch office where his associations with past and present members had been of the happiest. He hoped, however, that his new duties would permit him to keep in close touch with them for a long time to come. The London County Council has decided to include New Zealand beef in the kinds of meat purchaseable for the Council Mental Hospitals.
