Mrs Ross Dunsford. Suva, is visiting her mother, Mrs English, Papanui. Miss Joyce Seth-Smith is spending a holiday with friends in Auckland. Mrs G. L. Rutherford, Macdonald Downs, is staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mrs T. Armstrong. Holmwood Road, has returned to Christchurch from a holiday visit to Dunedin. Mrs Gosney, accompanied by her children, is visiting her cousin, Mr George Bushell, Ashburton. Mr and Mrs F. H. Christian and son left by the Wahine last night en route to Rotorua and Tauranga. Miss Mavis Bridgman will leave Christchurch on Saturday for a trip through the North Island. Mr and the Misses Bridgman have returned from an extended holiday to the Southern Lakes. Mr and Mrs Phil Mansell. Worcester Street, who were visiting friends in Timaru. have returned to Christchurch. Mrs Percy Wright, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs W. Hay, Bidwill Street, Timaru. Mr and Mrs Endell Wanklyn. Winchester Street, will return to Christchurch to-morrow from a holiday spent in the North Island. Sir Francis Colchester-Wemyss and Lady Wemyss, of London, returned to Christchurch from the south last evening, and are staying at Warner s Hotel. Mrs L. B. Bailey and Miss Rhona Bailey are spending a holiday ■with Mrs Douglas Scott, Mornington, Dunedin. Among the arrivals in Christchurch this morning were Dr and Mrs Ilarcourt Arthur, of Wellington, who arc registered at the Clarendon Hotel. Mrs Naughton, Whangarei, arrived in Christchurch this morning and is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mrs F. Dennehy, of Greymouth, is spending a few days in Christchurch, and is registered at the United Service Hotel. Mr and Mrs Wright, Brampton, England. are overseas visitors staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr and Mrs Maurice O'Rorke, Lake Coleridge, are spending a few days in Christchurch and are staying at the United Service Hotel. Dr and Mrs Gormley and Mr and Mrs Gates, of who were in Christchurch for several days, left for Dunedin to-day. Mr and Mrs Percy Acton Adams, who have been in Christchurch for several days, returned to Kaikoura today. Miss Minta Columbus returned to Balclutha last week after spending the Christmas holidays with her parents at Governor's Bay. Mrs J. Aldridge and family (Dunsandel) have returned to Christchurch from Wellington, after an enjoyable holiday spent in New Plymouth, Wanganui and TrenthamMr and Mrs W, E. Jones have returned from Wellington and are motoring through to Dunedin to-morrow with Mr and Mrs W. J. Allen, Ruapuna, and Miss E. Erleigh. Recent arrivals at the New Brighton Cafe are:—Mr and Mrs W. Scales (Christchurch). Miss L. Scales (Christchurch), Miss Crawford (Southbridge), Miss Truman (Christchurch), Mrs F. Robson, Masters T. and M. Robson (Christchurch), Miss Stewart (Christchurch). Mrs Bennington (Ashburton) and Miss Bonnington (Christchurch). The following are among the recent arrivals at the Hotel Federal:—Mr C. Oliver, Culverden; Messrs Bruce and Bolton, Nelson; Miss L. Jermy, Mr J. Mitchell, Lower Hutt; Mr R. Chamberlain, Feilding; Mr Jackson, Christchurch; Mr J. B. Christie, Wellington; Mr H. F. Steinson. Oamaru; Misses Roach, Hastings; Mr and Mrs E. A Kensington, Invercargill; Mrs and Miso Palmer, Nelson; Mr R. M’Farlanc, Christchurch; Miss R. Wild, Hokitika. An enjo3’able time was spent at the residence of Mrs R. M’Clurc, 13, Goldsmith Street, Sydenham, when a kitchen evening was given in honour of Miss Dora Young, whose wedding takes place shortly. Miss Young was the recipient of many useful presents. The evening passed pleasantly with dancing and musical items. Among those present were:—Mesdames M'Clure, Ralph, Kerr, Stokes. Richardson and Empson, Misses D. Young, R. Blythe, T. M’Clure, D. .Jones, S. Taylor, V. Bainton, T. Ililgrove and M. Jones, Messrs R- M’Clure, Stokes (3), J. Ralph, D. Richardson, W. Tull, T. Mitchell. T. Reed, J. Munro, P. O’Connor. L. Lumly, C. Le Warne, W. Whitwirth, C. Dheil, R. Foot, S. Clegg, A. Bainton and J. Empson.

Mr and Mrs Robert Stevens of Lower Hutt, was married to T. L. Roy King, second son of Mr and Mrs Alex King, Holmwood Road, Fendalton. Christchurch. The Rev Jaanes M’Caw, of lx>wer Hutt. was the officiating minister, and as the bridal party entered the church appropriate music was played by Miss Freda Jones.

The bride, who was given aw-ay by her brother, Mr Andrew Stevens, of Westport, wore a charming frock of cream mariette, cut on simple lines, inset with panels of guipure lace. She also wore a beautifully hand embroidered veil with coronet of orange blossoms. and carried a shower bouquet consisting of cream roses and carnations.

The bridesmaids were Miss Gladys Stevens, sister of the bride, who wore a model frock of primrose floral georgette, and crinoline hat to tone; and Miss Isla Stevens, niece of the bride, wearing a frock of pale cyclamen georgette and crinoline hat. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Dr Cyrii A. King. A reception was afterwards held at St Andrew's schoolroom, where Mr and Mrs F. O. Austin received the guests. Mrs Austin, sister of the bride, wore a very pretty fawn floral georgette frock with crinoline hat, and Mrs F. G. Kibblewhite, also sister of the bride, was in a charming frock of silver grey crepe de chine and hat to tone. Mrs Alex King, mother of the bridegroom, looked very well in a black and white ensemble suit of marocain and smart black hat.

The bride and bridegroom subsequently left for a tour of the South Island. Mrs King travelling in a blue and grey figured crepe de chine frock with grey and blue hat and musquash fur coat.
