BOY DROWNED AT PORT LEVY.
FELL OFF JETTY INTO THE WATER A lad named Tuhuru Tregarthan, aged eleven, was drowned at Port Levy early this afternoon. He was spending a holiday with his brother, E. Tregarthan, and was playing on the Port Levy jetty when he fell into the water. Another boy, who was near by in a punit, tried to rescue him, but was unsuccessful. Later several men tried to recover the body, and finally it was picked up by the brother, after having been in the water for ten minutes. The boy was brought to Lyttelton, where he was examined by Dr Uptam. Deceased resided with his parents at Kaiapoi.
