LOCAL BODY DRIVERS WANT NEW AWARD.

After having been in force for three years, the local bodies’ drivers’ award will expire on February 13. The Drivers’ Union has prepared claims for a new award and these will be forwarded to the various parties and will be the subject of a conference. The union’s claims ask for a weekly

wage, the men having previously been paid by the hour. Increases in pay are also asked for and new working conditions are requested. The award does not cover the Christchurch City Council's employees, who are alreadv included in a special award.
