ENGLISH PARK STADIUM.

MACKIE WINS MATCH RACE, BEATING NESBITT. There was a large attendance, at the English Park Stadium last evening. The motor-paced match-race between H. W. Nesbitt (Australia) and W. Mackie (New Zealand) was the main attraction. Nesbitt was unfit to race, having been confined to his bed all day with an attack of lumbago, but he faced the starter, and rode well, despite his indisposition. Mackie, who won comfortably, was pacing at 42 miles an hour over the last lap. The sprint match races between I>. M’Lennan and D. Brackenridge proved easy propositions for M’Lennan. O'Shea’s performances are well known. The riders will contest three sprints of half a mile each. An excellent supporting programme has been arranged, handicap cycling, professional ruKilng and whippet racing. D. M’Lennan will be a competitor in the sprint handicap. The fir3t event will start at eight o’clock. MAIREHAU AMATEUR CLUB HOLDS ROAD RACE. A nine-nllle road race was held by the Malrehau Amateur Cycling Club last evening. The course was over Hill's Road. Shirley Road, Marshland Road and M’Seveney’s Road. Thirty competed. The result was: L. Pither (14min). Time, 23min 30 W. Rushbridge (2min), 24mln l-ssec 2 L.
