CHESS CONGRESS.
Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 26. The thirty-fifth chess congress began this morning with a welcome to the players by Sir William Sim and Mr O. Bulk. local president. There are twenty contestants, including Crackenthorp e, the 1924 champion, and Purdy, the bo3 r champion, of 1925, both of New South Wales. Play starts this evening.
