The council has completed the work of concreting the floor of the basement of the Peace Memorial, and covered the sand in front of the building with tramway spoil. This is a great improvement, both as regards appearance and utility. The chute has been thoroughly overhauled and re-erected on the north of the Memorial Ilall. Needless to say, it is being well patronised. SURF BATHING. Last Sunday the weather was ideal, and the beach crowded with bathers.
