CRICKET. BOYS’ ASSOCIATION. Last Saturday games were continued In the Canterbury Boys’ Cricket Association’s competition, when the seventh round in the fifth (under sixteen) grade and the sixth round in the other grades were played. Matches took place at Hospital Cornell, Strowan and Northcote, the wickets in all cases being somewhat tricky owing to dampness. No very large scores were recorded, the conditions favouring the bowlers. W. Fitzsimmons, of the {Technical sixth grade A team, recorded the hat trick against. St Andrew's. His performance in taking four wickets with four balls and finally coming off with six wickets for IS runs, was very meritorious. r>. J. Quaid, who is second on the bowling list, is a representative of two years’ standing and belongs to the Technical fifth grade A team, whilst S. V. Kllis, who altogether took twelve wickets for 1S runs, belongs to the Boys’ High School fifth grade A At the head of the batting honours is li. Worthington, of Y.M.C.A., with a scop' of 6 5 compiled against St Andrew’s in the seventh grade. Worthington. previously this season, had played in the sixth grade, and last Saturday, appeared a little too good for the opposition. R. Wilks, who is second on the list, is also a seventh grader, playing for School B. W. Ballock, third on the list, with 56, is a member of the West Christchurch fifth grade team and last Saturday his score was a large factor in the victory secured by his team against St Andrew’s. School B batted first in their game against Technical A. scoring 5S (Gregg 13 and Roberts 13). Parks two for 9, W. M’Laughlin two for 7, A. Murray one for 4, 13. Welch one for 4, D. Stokes one for 9, and D. Quaid three for 4 took the wickets for Technical, who declared with five wickets down for 113. D. -Mitchell retired after scoring 33, whilst J». Stokes 23, J. Parks IS and W. M’Laughlin 11 were next on the list. J tinman one for 23, Roberts one for 4, Gregg two for 26, and A. L. Christie one for 26 took the. wickets for School B, who at time had lost five wickets for 4 6 runs. Roberts 19 and Christie 11 were the top scorers, whilst M’Laughlin one for 12. Quaid two for 3, and Stokes two for 6 took the wickets far Technical A, who gained a two-point win. School A were first at the wickets in their game against Technical B, scoring S 4 (Coleman 24, Anderson 16, and Bryden 12). S. Barnett eight for 37-and G. Murphy two for 26 took the wickets for Technical 13, who requiring only 25 runs to avoid a “folow-on” were all out for 15. S. Ell is six for 7 and A. Jones three for 30 proved deadly with the ball. In their second innings Technical B did slightly better, scoring 44 (G. Murphy 11 and M. George 10). S. Ellis six for 11 and A. Jones three for 11, again bowled well for School A, whd recorded a three-point win. St Bede’s won by default from Y.M.C.A. The game between West Christchurch and St Andrew’s took place at Strowan. The visitors were first at the wickets, their total being 116, of which W. Ballock contributed a good 56, whilst Bennett 17 and Sutherland 13 also secured double figures. Hartnell four for 10, Scott three for 7, J. Royds one for 6. and Williams one for 19 were the best bowlers. St Andrew's made a good effort but just failed to reach their opponents’ total, being all out for 303. J. Royds 36 and D. Scott 30 were iho chief scorers, whilst Milner three for 20 and Sutherland four for 7 accounted for most wickets. Last Saturday the sixth round of games was played in the sixth (under fifteen) gi'adf*. the four leading teams, St Bede’s, Technical A, Technical B and Riccarton, all winning their matches. The undefeated team St Bede’s are still in the lead. Allard’ four for 10 and A. Campbell two for 15 secured best figures with the ball. School B in 'their second innings scored 52 (Bradbury IS and Muir 17). Scully four for 2 and M. O'Reilly one for 6 were the best bowlers for St Bede’s, who gained a three-point win. School A were first at the wickets in their game against Riccarton, but. scored only 25. No batsman secured double figures, whilst G. King five for S, R. Smith four for 7 and A. Ivyle one for 1 took the wickets. Riccarton did. better, declaring with 76 scored and three wickets in hand. R. Smith batted nicely for 43, whilst K. Grenfell was next with 11. T. Carter two for 22, R. Dyer two. for 12. E. Brizley two for 2. and L. Roberts one for 9 were the most successful with the ball. In their second innings School A scored 29. G. King fixe for 7. R. Smith throe for 13 and Garrett two for 3 bowled best for Riccarton, who gained a three-point w i n. Restreaux six for 20, took the wickets for Grammar, who replied with 47 (Edmonds 16 and M’Nish 13). D. O'Brien four for 25, and G. Duggan fair for 20, shared the wickets for St Bede’s who, in their second innings, declared with three doAvn for 64 (D. O’Brien 33 and G. Duggan 10). C. Restreaux one for 28 and H.
