It is reported that most insurgents have migrated south-west towards Southern Lebanon, wherte .the Druzes have captured Merjiayun. The Christian Lebanese attempts to defend the villages against the Druzes will quickly evaporate if the Druzes appear in any strength. Druze notables state that they are willing to negotiate for peace on the basis of complete autonomy, with French advisers. 1-1 FRENCH COMMENCE TO CLEAR LEBANON. (Received November 20, 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, November 19. From Beirut, the French have begun two big encircling movements by which it is hoped to clear the rebels from Lebanon. A French column is marching from Rayak to Jebel-Xabataye with the object of cutting off three thousand Druzes. The French completely defeated the Druzes north-west of Hasbiva. Seven aeroplanes bombed Merjiayun, making the position of the Druzes untenable.
