LAST POST AND VOLLEYS OVER SUNKEN SUBMARINE. Uy Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Pouter's Telegrams, (Received November 20. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON. November 19. A moving memorial service for the victims of the Ml was held at dawn on the spot where the submarine submerged for the last time. The service took place aboard IT.M.S. Maidstone, which was accompanying the Ml when it disappeared. Eight submarines, two destroyers and two mine-sweepers participated in the ceremony. Flags were half-masted whilst the burial service was read. The “Eternal Father” anthem was sung. Three volleys were fired, the Last Post was sounded, and wreaths were dropped into the sea. The German divers wirelessed wishing in spirit to join sincerely in the service.
