HOUSE BURNED AT RANGIORA.

An unoccupied four-roomed house in Ashley Street, Rangiora, owned by Mr T. Shankland. was completely destroyed by fire at about three o'clock this morning. The flames had a good hold when the outbreak was noticed, and the firemen had to confine their attentions to the adjoining premises. The “Standard” Office was in considerable danger until a lead of water was obtained, but the absence of a wind minimised the risk of a spread. The origin of the outbreak is unknown. The insurance on the house, which was in course of renovation, was £450, with the Standard Insurance Company
